Tooth Extraction

Our job as dentists is to help keep your teeth healthy and intact for as long as possible. Tooth extraction is never our first choice, but if a tooth has become unsalvageable due to decay or trauma, removing it is the healthiest choice.

At Simply Dental of Bellevue, we have developed a reputation for being caring and compassionate at providing quality dentistry in a warm and calming environment. Patients appreciate our gentle nature and caring approach, especially when they are facing a procedure like tooth extraction.

If you need a tooth removed for any reason, count on our Bellevue dental team to make it a comfortable, stress-free experience.

Reasons for Tooth Extraction

If you require tooth extraction, rest assured that Dr. Kemahli will help you understand why the procedure’s necessary. Some of the reasons he might recommend removing a tooth are:

  • A tooth is too severely decayed to be repaired
  • A tooth infection has advanced, and a root canal won’t save it
  • A tooth has broken off at the gum line and can’t be restored
  • A tooth has been loosened by advanced gum disease

In some cases, our Bellevue dentist may recommend tooth extraction in conjunction with denture or implant placement or orthodontic treatment.

The Tooth Extraction Procedure

When you are facing tooth extraction, you couldn’t be in better hands than you are with Dr. Kemahli and his team. In most cases, the procedure is straightforward and starts when we numb the tooth and area we are treating. We use powerful local anesthetics to ensure that you don’t feel any pain and remain comfortable throughout the extraction.

Before we send you home after your procedure, we will provide aftercare instructions for you that you need to follow to avoid complications.

The most important thing is not to disturb the clot that is forming over the extraction site. If the clot becomes dislodged, it leads to an excruciating condition called dry socket, but this is easily avoidable when you follow our instructions precisely.

Because we care about you, a member of our team will call you later that evening to see how you are doing and if you have any concerns or questions.

Discussing Tooth Replacement

So much of who we are is wrapped up in our smiles, so we understand that there’s also an emotional component to losing a tooth. Rest assured that our goal is to move past the tooth loss and focus on restoring the beauty and function of your smile.

With options like dental bridges, full and partial removable dentures, and implant dentures, our dentist can customize a solution that works best for you. If you’re not ready to decide on tooth replacement just yet, that’s fine; we will be here for you when you are.
